Please see below a statement from the Trustees of the RVCST after last nights RVBC councillors meeting.
“Quick update on the recent goings on with the development at Roefield, last night the councillors decided not to accept our amended proposal in relation to the rent to be paid on the lease at Roefield. The trustees of Ribble Valley Community Sports Trust had requested that the rent to be paid be capped at £20,000 per annum. This request was made as a result of work on the business plan for the project. The Trustees felt that the rent sought by Ribble Valley Borough Council, including the receipts for 10% of the available slots, for the land would put the viability of the project in jeopardy.
You will all be aware we have been granted planning permission for the site and Roefield. Two weeks ago, the Charity Commission approved the registration for the new Ribble Valley Community Sports Trust. This trust is to provide better sporting facilities for all football clubs and other sports clubs in the Ribble Valley.
However, we now need a lease on the land at Roefield from the RVBC. These discussions have been long and drawn out and now this decision means a further delay in proceedings. The Trustees will seek to negotiate an acceptable solution on the terms of the lease and the rent to be paid. We will keep you informed of progress as soon as we can. “
