A total of 44 local golfers entered Clitheroe Wolves FC’s its first Charity Golf Day on Friday, June 1, at Whalley Golf Club.
Eleven teams of four players helped raise well over £1,000 – a superb achievement for the Club’s first ever event.
The proceeds will be split between the Solomon Project and Club funds. Clitheroe Wolves is currently involved in some exciting new developments – namely the new artificial pitches that are in advanced planning stages at Roefield and also ambitious improvements planned for the facilities at Highmoor Playing Fields.
Clitheroe Wolves FC would like to thank all those that competed in the day, and especially to all those local firms and individuals who supported the event and made it such a success by providing generous tee and prize sponsorship.
Wolves Chairman Ross Hibbert said: “It was a fantastic turn out for the day, made even more special with the support from some of the Club’s own young players – including representatives from the Club’s Youth, Girls and Disability Teams – who donated part of their half term holiday to help organise the day.
“We also received a huge amount of support from local businesses, parents and grandparents, and we have been overwhelmed by their generosity. The competition went so well it is now planned as an annual event.”

NOTES TO EDITORS
Clitheroe Wolves is a thriving community-based football club with more than 600 local children on our books. For the 2018/19 season, we will be running 43 teams – including six girls teams and a disability group.
Players train once a week under the supervision of FA-Approved coaches and play around 25 matches per season. The club depends on thousands of hours of goodwill every year from unpaid parents and supporters.
We play on a huge range of pitches in and around Clitheroe – many of which become water-logged and unplayable during the winter months. So we have launched an ambitious programme of pitch improvements, starting this summer.
Clitheroe Wolves Annual Presentation Day, which will take place on Saturday July 7th on Roefield Playing Fields and at Lowmoor Club from 2pm.
With an anticipated attendance of more than 1,000 players and their parents, we will be celebrating another enormously successful season for the club and looking forward to some exciting new developments next season.
Members of the press and photographers are very welcome to attend this lively celebration of local grassroots football.
